My Life My Choice Highlighted in National Case Studies

My Life My Choice has recently been spotlighted in several resources published by the U.S. Office of Health and Human Services highlighting our prevention and mentoring programs. We are thrilled to be recognized in this way and contribute our survivor-led and survivor-centered expertise and learning to the field.

In the first publication, My Life My Choice Case Study: Empowering Survivors of Child Sex Trafficking, several of our Survivor Leaders were interviewed, highlighting the importance of peer support in fostering resiliency and healing for individuals who have experienced human trafficking.

The positive outcomes of our programs are illuminated throughout each resource, referencing the 2015-2018 study funded by the National Institute of Justice evaluating the effectiveness of our survivor mentoring model and prevention curriculum. My Life My Choice’s innovative approach towards addressing commercial sexual exploitation of children has led to a “drastic decrease” in exploitation for youth participants in our programs.

In another publication, Identifying and Addressing Human Trafficking in Child Welfare Agencies: Final Report, state child welfare leaders across the country were interviewed to identify best practices for serving youth who have experienced or are at an increased risk of trafficking. It highlights the importance of partnerships in expanding the capacity of welfare agencies and decreasing service gaps for youth most at risk.

At My Life My Choice, we fight back against exploitation by harnessing the strength of survivors and empowering youth. Our survivor-led model allows us to provide a pathway to safety, stability, and hope for all. Working towards a future where no one is bought or sold, we have already begun supporting other programs in replicating our models and deepening our collaboration with other service providers. In the coming years, we aim to improve and increase CSEC trainings and strengthen our partnerships Child Welfare, Criminal Justice, Education, and Health Care agencies in order to influence the policies and systems most impacting vulnerable youth.
