My Life My Choice COVID-19 Response

Dear Providers, Partners, and Supporters:

At My Life My Choice, we, like I’m sure all of you, have been wrestling with our response to the current public health crisis caused by Covid-19 (Coronavirus). We are working to balance the safety of our staff, the needs of our mentees, and the general public good. I am writing to update you on the steps My Life My Choice is taking in efforts to help limit exposure and spread of the virus. As of March 13th, we are implementing several programmatic changes.

We will continue supporting youth and partners to the best of our ability using technology and a little creativity.

Survivor Empowerment Services (Mentoring, Case Management, Clinical Services, and Groupwork)

  • Currently, all visits with mentees by My Life My Choice staff that can be done via phone or FaceTime will be conducted remotely.

  • We are suspending in-person assessments, however new referrals may still be sent to Tina Valila at tvalila@jri.org. Referrals will be reviewed and responded to on a case by case basis.

  • We will not be holding a Leadership Corps session at this time.

Professional Training and Advocacy

  • All My Life My Choice trainings are cancelled until further notice.

  • Our online Advanced Residential Institute course will continue as scheduled.

  • We are exploring additional distance learning options.

  • All meetings and events are being conducted remotely, postponed, or cancelled.

Prevention Education

  • My Life My Choice staff are currently not available to co-facilitate Prevention Groups.

  • Questions about modifications or use of distance learning for Prevention Groups can be directed to Kyle Mushkin at kmushkin@jri.org.

We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed. We deeply appreciate your partnership, flexibility and understanding during this time of uncertainty. As always, thank you for your support. Please take care.

Warmly,

Lisa Goldblatt Grace, LICSW MPH
Executive Director & Co-Founder
