Any youth-serving professional – whether it’s named in their job description or not – may encounter the topics of relationships, sex, sexual health, and sexuality in their work with young people. These topics are part of our everyday realities. This training will help you effectively navigate these conversations in a trauma-informed and intentional way, as well as provide best practices for creating a safe and inclusive space for the young people you work with.
My Life My Choice (MLMC) and Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) have merged their respective expertise in commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and comprehensive sexuality education to create an evidence-, trauma-, and survivor-informed training designed to help a wide range of youth service providers. This training was created specifically for youth-serving professionals who have conversations with youth who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and/or other forms of sexual violence. Participants will leave the training equipped with increased skills and comfort to be able to navigate these conversations.
Topics that will be covered include:
• Trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches in sexual health
• Identifying biases and personal values
• Protection methods and sexually transmitted infections
• How to engage this highly vulnerable population in conversations about sexual health
